School is out. I am still resting my leg. So I'm here hanging out in kiddie-land with nothing great to do except boring housewife type activities...clean, laundry, transport service to camps and activities, cooking/feeding, repeat. What do I look like, Mary F-in Poppins?
Naw, I guess it's nice to have a little down time, albeit extremely against all that I find true and pure and good and interesting in the world. It's only been 5 days since I was standing on the top of Pikes Peak wondering if I was actually in the process of killing my husband or not...Already bored? Yup.
Friday is going to be what I hope is interesting. We're going to do a 4th class route called "Freeway" on the 2nd Flatiron. It's 800 or so vertical feet of supposedly fun solid class 4 rock. I'm pumped for it. Light and quick travel for a change. I am also hoping Chad's leg will be ok. He tore a part of some little muscle behind your knee on the Y. He's been worked over by Bob's boxcutters and says it's feeling good and he thinks he'll be good to go.
He'd better, cause I've been making friends with a girl on Summitpost who I can actually look up to, in a climbing sense, and is accepting applications for new partners, but we keep having scheduling malfunctions. I told her I MIGHT have Friday available, but if Chad was ok I'm going with him and she's not invited on that because it's with Chad and I want him to myself. Then Chad calls me today and tells me he invited his friend Mark from work. Mmmmk. Maybe he thinks I'll push him off since Pikes Peak didn't do the job and wants witnesses...but MAN, it was SO CLOSE!
We're also gearing up to head home for our summer visit. 3 weeks in prime snow climb season hanging out in Ohio just about makes me want to cry...but we will be busy. First we drop off the kids in T-dump and jet over to UNC/Chapel Hill for Chad's MBA graduation. I will have a day to burn while they do wrap-up classes, so I'm trying to find something outdoorsy to check out. That could be fun. Then we head home for time at the infamous "cottage" on Posey Lake, MI...then some hanging out at the freMont, and some fun activities arranged for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary. Also my niece's baptism. Debating whether or not to take the golf clubs home. I think I just might go on a golfing bender while we're home. I never get to golf here, and I won't have anything else to do there, so why not? $25 baggage fee might be why not, but...we'll see.
Ugh. I have to buy some sort of mid-fancy but still casual summery garment to wear to all of these mid-fancy but still casual level summer functions. I hate the mall. YET, that's where you'll find me some evening this week.
I just bought two titanium sporks on SAC. score!
